After Twenty20 players were purchased for millions in India lately, can this form of cricket MATCH the global popularity of soccer one day, say ten years from now ?

Any form of short games will be popular and it all depends on
how the marketing is done specially in western world. Assuming
the administrators can sell it and have made a good game and
a reputable one, then we can have something close to soccer,
but definitely not a run for the money. Old habits die hard and
hence soccer is the worlds most watched, followed and viewed
sport. It will take generations for any change to happen.

Maybe in 60 years time, and if most of the countries in the world start playing it now.

    Hey,
Soccer is no comparison to Cricket.
Even Manchester United makes more money than Team India.
Soccer is an international game recogonised by the whole world, but cricket is a bit too complicated for people who are not into it.
Soccer can never be at risk by any sport and not even cricket!!!!!

honestly, no chance, soccor is played in every country in the world (just about) whereas cricket is only really followed in the former british colonies whic limits the market considerably

Soccer is an overrated game. Loved by the masses and fairly skilful but all they do is dribble the ball up and dribble the ball down and you might get to see a goal.
And the players lie on the ground like girls at the slightest knock. I hate that.

Unfortunatly i can not see it taking off to become as big as soccer.
The only countries that play are ex British colonies and they didn’t get everywhere in the world. And besides, it goes on to long.

I love cricket more than football (soccer), but I hope T20 cricket never reaches the heights of football, because it is a very poor representation of real cricket…
