How Do You Find & Get Rid Of A Cricket Chirping Away In Your Bedroom?

15 February 2010 2 Comments

Please don’t tell me it’s good luck and other nonsense. I need peace & quiet and one of the sounds I most loathe in this life is a cricket chirping, particularly in my room at 3:00am when I’m trying to sleep.
It’s very hard to find by ear because the sound bounces off everywhere. Sounds like it’s at all 4 corners. This is the 2nd night.
Most important how to find it? (How to bait it? How to get rid of it? would be nice as well)
Thanks everyone!

First, make sure it’s in your room. I had that same thing happen once and after completely dismantling the bedroom found it just outside the closed window.

if you wait a week or so it will eventually die. but if you want to get rid of it now (which is completely understandable) i have a few tips:
Crickets need water, so make sure there is no water source for it to sustain on. Same with food, get rid of all those half eaten sandwiches under your bed
then bait it. put out a bowl with a sponge floating in it. it will like to get water from the sponge, and may drown in the surrounding water. (I raise crickets to feed to lizards, and some of them do drown on occasion, but not all the time) also put out food. an apple slice is sweet and will lure the cricket in, rub some sort of insect poison on it. that should probably do it.
