How Hard Is It To Become An Official Cricket Umpire?

29 November 2009 59 views 5 Comments

Knowing the signals and the game is easy enough, but how hard is it to learn ALL of the laws of cricket, there’s so many little rules that very hardly pop up in a normal game that most people don’t know about.

I don’t think its that hard. Same an anything, you learn all the rules, and practice makes perfect. The more experienced you become, the better you become.

If you love the game of cricket the laws are pretty basic. They are common sense questions, of course there are certain laws that are harder to remember then others. But study hard and love the game of cricket you will be fine. the most important part is showing that you are capable and confident when standing in the middle. Players will pick up on it very quickly if you aren’t either of these.
Give it a go, see how you go and most importantly have fun doing it, by have fun I don’t mean “Billie” Bowden fun.
