How To Become A Cricket Commentator?

1 November 2009 5 Comments

I am a professional but an avid cricket follower. Very eloquent and was a very active public speaker growing up. But ended up completing a degree in engineering and work in software. But my passion to become a cricket commentator is still alive. I have NO idea where to start. Someone once told me that I have to have a degree in Broadcasting if I want to be taken seriously for a position in sports broadcasting. I am up for it. But I wanted to still figure out the other details of where to start other than enrolling in a Broadcasting course. Would love any views/suggestions.
Thanks.

believe you are speaking of the sport. Cricket. Follow your passion and make it fun! Think Cricket.
Did you know that you can find out the temperature on a summer evening from a cricket? This is a fact.
Perhaps cricket commentators before you have presented this fact. Wouldn’t it be fun to announce time, temperature(cricket check) before a game? And have a cricket mascot you could name? Jimmennny Cricket! Best of luck.

play some cricket, get your name in the media, all of suden your poor performance thro you out of team… then it is easy to comment on playing eleven… based on this you can be the best commentator…

If you have noticed, the quality of commentrators is deterioting day by day. Some of them hardly know anything bout the game.
To become a commentrator, its better if u play cricket at some level. Then begin commentrating at some level, let it be any level. Develop your own style. Be funny, witty and know the game. Do a crash course on cricket history and know the team, players, their background and averages. Start writing articles on cricket in your local paper.
In short. Have a unique style, know your history of cricket and get noticed!
