You will see a ” Made in England” on it.
Hard to tell if inexperienced. A bat with a material cover is never English willow however.Bat stickers mean nothing – loads of fake bats on ebay and loads of stickers only that you can stick on any plank of wood.
CA, for example, made great bats in Pakistan out of english willow – just because they are not made in England also means nothing. 80% of bats are made in Asia out of willow grown in England. Some of them are top quality bats. Puma etc are all Asian but the top Puma bats are hand made for the pro’s in England at another bat makers who apply Puma stickers. Likewise Pieterson’s Adidas – Adidas don’t make bats – someone sticks the stickers on them for them
Not all english willow is top quality however, so look for the grain, any imperfections like knots or butterfly marks
if you want a serious bat, buy from a reputable source. Look for the makers hologram on a CA for example and not just the stickers. and never trust ebay descriptions. A 19,99 bat is never English Willow top grade blah blah.
Kashmir willow is a substitute to English willow and as the name suggests is grown in the Kashmir region. It has similar characteristics as English willow, but it is more brittle and thus generally doesn’t perform as well or last as long as English willow. Kashmir willow bats are normally bought as a starter bat and should not be bought for serious cricketers playing good club and county junior levels. Most English willow bats will state on the labelling English willow or Made in England.
It says so on the label.
