India Becoming A Strong Team – Will It Really Be Good For Cricket?

13 February 2010 10 Comments

The success of the IPL will ensure that India will become a strong team. Is this actually a good thing for cricket?
I’m a patriotic Indian supporter but I don’t always want India to win in one-sided games. So India’s emergance in cricket – is it a good thing?

Matee. 2 years ago Australia were undeafatable. In the last 3 wold cups they have had 30 wins straight. India will be dominant but for maybe 2 or 3 years. 20/20 ipl will help the younger indian cricketers learn from the best players in the world. But because its 20/20 format theyll learn how to bowl economically. Like theyll learn how to bowl maidens but not really learn ho to take wickets. Each team have their periods. Liek South Africa are the best atm but in 2 years they might not be.

It will be good for cricket as there will be better teams performing and there would be better matches.so far it was australia winning all its matches with south africa give a fight sometimes.now that india too has become a strong team there would be tough competition for the title of ‘THE BEST CRICKET TEAM OF THE WORLD’.and if teams like sri lanka too join the fray then there would be nothing like it.but it would be good for cricket if india becomes a strong team only if the other teams keep up with it.so it is good if india becomes stronger but only as long as the other teams catch up with india.

Yes, it is good. It is always good to see teams on the rise and India has done very well. T20 w/c, second in ODI rankings and third in tests. My only concern with the T20, IPL is that bowlers are virtually treated as second class citizens with most bowlers going for 30-40 runs from their 4 overs. Not really conducive to bolster a young bowlers confidence.

My only concern after IPL is that the youngsters may forget the real cricket. Just hit away.
Otherwise, it is all very good to be a good competition.
The very fact that others want to sabotage ” Indian Cricket” goes to show how powerful India is just now.It may not be ‘good’ , that way.
