Valve has come clean with fresh details on the Left 4 Dead 2 demo to be available from October 27th. The playable taster will feature gameplay from ‘The Parish’ campaign to play with 1-4 players locally or via online play on both the Xbox 360 and PC where players will encounter boss infected zombies and get first dibs on the game’s new melee weapons including a Cricket bat among others. Eager pre-orderers will get early access to the demo on October 27th followed by Xbox Live Gold and PC gamers on November 3rd.

Pakistan was reeling last night after the Taliban intensified its bloody campaign of violence, launching five separate attacks in a single day, including the first ever with female assailants. At least 28 victims died in three attacks carried out by gunmen on police targets in Lahore and two car bombs in Kohat and Peshawar. “The enemy has started a guerrilla war,” said the Interior Minister Rehman Malik.

Lahore, Pakistan: New Zealand has announced its cricket team for the next month’s one-day series against Pakistan while India has announced its squad for the series against Australia. Rahul Dravid, Yousaf Pathan and RP Singh are not included in the squad. All rounder Daniel Vettori and Jacob Oram are also included in the team which will play three one day and two Twenty20 matches against Pakistan in UAE. Currently both the players are suffering an injury.

Auckland (New Zealand), Oct.16 (ANI): Recently retired New Zealand Test all-rounder Jacob Oram has hit out at detractors who have questioned his commitment to the national team. The 31-year-old injury-prone Black Caps allrounder on Tuesday announced his retirement from test cricket in a bid to extend his longevity in shorter forms of the game. There seems to be plenty of press about Rahul Dravid being dropped from the ODI side for the home series against Australia. “He got a raw deal”, “this is weird”, “It makes no sense” etc. seems to be the common sentiment and understandably so. Rahul Dravid was brought back to the ODI team after the young turks in the Indian team where found wanting when it came to negotiating the short pitched delivery. Dravid played the series against Sri Lanka and the Champions trophy in South Africa and did a decent job before being dropped for the home series against Australia.

Mumbai will host the final, along with two other matches, while Mohali will host one of the semifinals of the 2011 cricket World Cup to be organised jointly by India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. The Local Organising Committee met on Wednesday to finalise the venue-based distribution of the 29 games that India is scheduled to host. The full schedule of the 14-nation tournament is due to be announced in Mumbai on 9th November. The rest of the 20 games of the 49-match event have been awarded to Sri Lanka (12) and Bangaldesh (8).

Younis Khan should write three ” Thank You” letters. The first one should go to Mr Jamshed Dasti whose unsubstantiated accusations earned Younis a lot of sympathies from the whole nation and distracted everybody’s attention from the team’s questionable performance and Younis Khan’s poor leadership. Had Dasti kept his mouth shut Younis would have been hiding his face from the media and public but now since he enjoys the sympathy of the whole nation, he is dictating his terms to PCB.

Indian Railways will build a museum housing rare films and memorabilia of legendary film-maker Satyajit Ray, it was announced here Thursday. The museum will be a part of the Satyajit Ray Railway Indoor Stadium, Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee said while laying the foundation of the stadium that she promised to develop as a world class sports complex at an investment of Rs.56 crore. ’The stadium will be converted into a world-class sports complex with an investment of Rs.56 crore.
