I dont like the phone at cricket but i like some other phones. would this be possible and from which companies?

My friend has a Sprint Cellphone and Cricket converted the cellphone to be used by Cricket! So now he has a Sprint phone but he’s using Cricket’s service. So I know for a fact that Sprint phones can be used by Cricket! But is there any other company that this can be done with?
