I have recently bought a new cricket bat and have decided to put on protective covering. oes this effect the balance/weight and power of the bat?

Rise of Twenty-20 means too much of cricket. Will it be prove a boomerang by gradually diminishing the royal touch and hence popularity to cricket ?
