What Are The Qualities Of A Good Captain Of A Cricket Team?

8 November 2009 8 Comments

What qualities are crucial to be a good captain in cricket?
Many times, we see that teams will go for a specialist ODI captain and a different captain for tests (it is also true in my case as I am the ODI captain but I do not captain in tests). How different do you think the captaincy should be in the two formats of the game?

You need to have a presence in the team you should be highly respected and looked up to. You should look at each player equally whether on debut or close to retirement.
A captain is the man who carries the spirit of the team.
