Well its hard to go past the batting average of Don Bradman but apart from him there are so many records in cricket . Which one do you regard as the greatest cricket record in history excluding Bradmans average?

Brian Lara’s 400 not out, the highest test score by an individual (made against an excellent England bowling attack)
I would say that records in regard to test matches are held in the highest regard due to the length of the match and the multiple variables that enter in to the equation (weather, pitch, crowd, standard of opposition etc). While Don Bradman is held up as the yardstick of records, no two batsmen from different eras can be compared because of the obvious changing state of the game. For example, Victor Trumper was also a very fine batsmen and Spofforth a great fast bowler but neither would be considered in the same league as the modern players because of the number of games that players are required to play now. Conversely short careers can give an inflated or incorrect view of a player’s ability. However which era a spectator is born into is going to affect their viewpoint and bias them toward Test, One Day or 20/20. And finally personal preference comes into the frame. Some people are simply more attractive to the crowds. Case in point Warne, Botham, Gilchrist. So a definite answer is probably not likely.
Dear MWSEF,
Good question !
In my opinion it is the number of centuries in test cricket and ODI’s. Followed by number of wickets taken in test cricket and ODI’s.
You are very right, Don Bradmans record seems almost unbreakable unless someone has had a short but remarkable career. Be that as it may, in its proxy (Bradmans record) getting the largest number of centuries may be used as a measure of excellence.
However, getting a lot of runs is a mark of distinction, unfortunately some players habitually fall short of a century despite coming ever so close ! But that one run that separates 99 from 100 creates that unfortunate distinction in most peoples minds.
You seem to be new here. I like your questions.

For me i want to go against the single records and say Ricky Ponting and team Australia’s record of 16 test victories in a row is the highlight for me as a young Aussie girl..I think as a captain he is so great..
Sachin’s records will always be 1 of the greatest single records i admire but i think the whole of the Australian team and Ricky’s means a lot to me.
A record is a record. It is an achievement, dubious or brilliant.
But I think the maximum number of runs in Tests and ODIs, both records held by Sachin Tendulkar and the maximum wickets in Tests-Muralitharan and ODIs-Wasim Akram are most creditable achievements.
Longest cup snake. They are getting longer since they started serving light beer only at test matches, so you have to drink twice as much, hence twice as many cups. We should be in for a very exciting summer, watch those snakes grow, mabey even make it across 15 bays.
i would say the record owned by Muralitharan and sachin would be the greatest and equally great would be the fact that Simon Taufel has manged to bag the best umpire nomination for continuously 4 years in a row!
As per me it is the six sixes hit by Herchelle Gibbs and Yuvraj Singh. They are neither consistent nor dependable but still I would like to ask all people if this feat could be achieved by Don Bradman, Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, Gary Sobers etc.
I would say either most runs in test cricket,or most wickets in test cricket. Held by Sachin Tendulkar and Muttiah Muralitharan respectively.
The highest runs and hundreds in both tests and one day games by Sachin. Remains to be seen when if this record can be surpassed by any individual player.
