Broad band to put it simply is a term used by most companies to describe better than dial-up speeds. If you want true broadband that would be a cable or FIOS(Fiber Optic Service) would be the best possible speed.
I am use the Cricket Broadband modem and have been surprised at the speed of 500 BPS(bits per second) down and 170 BPS up. You can get 1.5 BPS down and 500 BPS up on a DSL(digital subscriber line).
I have found that with a Cricket Modem you will need to Activate it to get the EDVO (Evolution-Data Optimized) speed. Although it is a bit slower you can get good speed from a cricket modem.
Although I’ve heard about a softcap of 5 gigbytes of data, I’ve not experienced that yet and still like the service. It is better than not having any internet at all.
