Why Do You Think England Lost Against India In The Cricket?

I personally think England were too cautious and the bowling display by the england bowlers was not up to standard. But perhaps I am being a bit harsh, as in many instances they were simply unlucky.
On another note, do you think Trescothick should come out of retirements. I think he was/is one of the best openers in cricket, and I think England have really suffered without him. He was probably my favourite of English batsmen in modern years

To win in India you need to have a GREAT spin bowler, England don’t have that at the moment. For India to chase 384 on a pitch that was turning miles and even offering a little bounce was disappointing. Not many other teams would have let India off the hook like that, but England didn’t have the firepower to bowl them out.
I don’t think we ever looked like getting 20 wickets in the series, and that’s a disappointment, because on paper the quality of the England bowlers is high. Harmison and Anderson once again disappointed.
I think England batted well the whole series, we maybe should have scored more runs on the 4th day of the 1st Test to give India more runs to chase, but India also did a great job of containing our batsmen. I think the batsmen for once, are not to blame.
Trescothick coming back would be a great moment in English cricket, he is a very good opening batsmen who knows how to time an innings well, he also has experience in conditions all around the world, and lastly he is a great player of spin bowling.
Unfortunately it will never happen.
England lost because they were facing a very talented and confident Indian Side and they just weren’t up to the mark. I agree that at some occasions they were just unlucky, but at the end of the day they just couldn’t face up to India. I believe they did a very improving performance at Chennai seeing the two tons made by Andrew Strauss, but India came up to it and went on to chase a ma-moth 387 in the 4th innings. Strauss was just unlucky as his tons didn’t help his side. And also as MS Dhoni said after the Mohali test that even the Indians would have liked if this was a 3 match series, as if one loses the first game then they have no chance of winning the series or even less chances of drawing the series up. And on your opinion on Trescothick, I do think that England need him badly. King Kokee (one of your other answerers) also made a very good point on why england lost the series.
With 47 wickets in the last 8 test matches at 20 runs per wicket, Ryan Sidebottom is their best test match bowler. England had to play the series without their best bowler. This is the only reason why they lost the series 1-0. If Sidebottom had played, he would have won the series for England.
Edit: King Kookee: The difference between the two teams is narrow. It is only that one great bowler like Ryan Sidebottom would have tilted the scales in England’s favour. Indian pitches help pace bowlers also – like Fred Titmus took 27 wickets for 747 runs in 5 test matches there. Holding took 30 wickets in 6 test matches there. The absence of a good spinner was to some extent met by the new bowler Swann who in 2 test matches took 8 wickets.
The first test either could have won, though england were better placed. Now the second test is classic India pitch, dull, lifeless and made for a draw or possible India spin win.
The Indians are paranoid about losing on home soil,so they deliberately create these soul destroying pitches.Too slow to bat on,too dead to get bounce,or seam.
The first test had english pitch conditions due to playing a test in December, and what a match.30,000 turned up on last day.
India is a graveyard for english players so you will see good recovery on home soil against aussies
It is simple. Australia lost to India. England lost to Australia. So, the natural corollary is that England should lose to India, which they duly did.
A team with exceptional abilities can disprove this theory, but England could not do so and showed that the exceptional qualities were yet to be developed by them.
As for who should play and where they erred, their team’s think tank is there and we don’t have to break our heads, I suppose.
Not a whole team big performance, apart from Pietersen who got century. But yeah England were playing one of the best test cricket teams and they pull a performance like they did in the ODI’s. Not good enough. The bowlers were not taking good, quick wickets like they were before against South Africa , Anderson, Broad… but I think they found it hard against the likes of Tendulkar, Dhoni, Gambhir, Yuvraj… :]
1. England played pretty well and should have won the first Test.
2. India has a better bowling attack.
3. India has a better balanced batting side.
4. India opted out of the second Test to ensure a “series” victory to the discredit of cricket. It wasn’t pretty.
5. Forget Trescothick. He’s gone…
The English team needed atleast another player with killer instinct – apart from KP and Flintoff – maybe a bowler. And yes an aggressive opener(though not necessarily Trescotick) would have made an impact. But remember that this series was much closer than the Ausie tour- so kudos to the Englishmen
The most important reason – “Because INDIA played better cricket than them”.
English team was good but in patches…..Sometimes they scored well..had good patnerships but weren’t able to captalise on it! Morevover, a lot depended on panesar who wasn’t able to perform!!
England Lost becase India team was too good for them anyways i count England in Minors these days.
there is nomore fire power left in them…
Not that England is a poor team but India portrayed a much better team shinning in all three departments of the game.Much more -in that Dhoni’s captaincy is one factor.
England lost because, India is playing with complete confidence and it is a talented team.
Because they are rubbish and were thrashed/humiliated in the one dayers and beaten in the Test Matches by a team far superior than them!
No confidence when batting and no consistant bowling menace.
its cos england cant play cricket and tbh i dnt even folllow cricket anymore but i supported pakistan
to much drinking and partying and not enough practice or dedication or guts
Bad leadership
lack of experience.
they could not finish things
