Why Does My Car Sound Like A Cricket?

21 November 2009 4 Comments

So, I’m having troubles with my car. I’ve already posted one question about it, but I have another one. When my car is in motion it makes a sound like a cricket chirping (best way to describe it). Does anyone have any theories?

Chirping while moving only is almost always the wear indicators on the break pads.
If it is belts or engine related, it would chirp anytime the engine is running moving or not.
CV joints tend to click rather than chirp and only while turning unless they are really bad.

It may be problem related to the belts of the engine. Just check it if they are loose or old this kind of noise may occur. This is very common problem, so don’t worry. just show ur car to a good mechanic. he will fix it.

could be you cv axle or tie rods what kinda car is it does it feel weird while you drive it could be a belt a loose belt or over tightend on can do this when your driving the belt gos faster and puts more strain on it and can cause this to happen
the guy above me could be right also and is probly on the right track break check

Could be your brakes are worn. Most brake pads have metal pieces that will make contact with the rotor producing a chirping sound. It’s an indication that the brake pads need to be replaced.
